How to Get the Modern Axe
The Modern Axe is a superior version of the Plane Axe, which is the basic axe that doesn’t have to be crafted. In The Forest Modern Axe is the best axe for chopping trees.
The cave entrance can be found adjacent to the Main Cannibal Village in Cave 2. Beware, the area’s a cannibal hotspot. It’s located in the south-east of the map (as shown in the image above). A recommended tactic for navigating the surface is to keep in mind that the snowy mountains are positioned in the north of the map.
Where to Find the Modern Axe
Once you have found the Main Cannibal Village, follow these steps to find the Modern Axe:
1. Once you have found the Main Cannibal Village, locate the cave entrance and enter it.
2. There will be cloth found scattered over the floor. Remember to pick up the Map and Compass found on the floor.
3. Continue your way through the cave, you will discover a rope. Go down this rope, and continue until you find a crossroads. Beware, here you will also find a cannibal. If you haven’t unlocked any other weapon yet besides the Plane Axe, you can craft a spear to help you damage the cannibal.
4. Take a left at the crossroad and continue, make sure to hug the left wall. Ignore the wooden door you will find. Stop when you reach another crossroad, be aware that you’re about to encounter two cannibals. At the crossroads, take a right and continue into the large room, here are the two aforementioned cannibals.
5. Take a sharp left from where you entered the room, here will be a rope. It should have a skull lantern above it. Go down the rope.
6. At the bottom of the rope, you will discover a room with many boxes. Located adjacent to these boxes are various items. Such as fireworks, medication, and consumables.
7. The Modern Axe is located on top of a cardboard box.

How to Get the Katana
The Katana is a better method of defending and attacking when compared to axes. This long and sharp-bladed sword is available early game, with players being able to add it to their arsenal within the first fifteen minutes of playtime. The Katana also has a considerably faster swing speed, which allows the player to consistently deal damage to the enemy, without allowing the enemy the time to retaliate.
How to Find the Katana
The Katana can be found in Cave 1, South-East of the big hole, located in the center of the map (the location of the entrance can be found in the image above).
1. Locate the Cave Entrance, and descend into the cave via the rope.
2. Walk straight until you encounter a rope, climb up it.
3. At the top of the rope, you will find an intersection. Take a left.
4. Continue your way through the cave. Beware there are cannibals adjacent to this pathway, so make sure to sneak.
5. At the end of this trail, you’ll discover an underground cave site.
6. The Katana is got from the back of a dead man within the cave site.

How to Get the Rebreather
The Rebreather is a piece of equipment that’ll allow players to breathe underwater. As a result, players can dive for extended periods of time.
Where to Find the Rebreather
The Rebreather can be found just north of the peninsula in Cave 5.
1. Once you have located the Cave Entrance, enter it.
2. Damage and kill the two cannibals, and continue forward
3. You will find a wooden barricade, knock it down with an axe then continue. Beware, there will be two cannibals right after this barricade.
4. Continue forward until you enter a big room, here will be the aforementioned cannibals. Once they have been killed, there’ll be a rope to your left, go down it.
5. Once you have reached the bottom, there will be another rope. Go down it.
6. Once you’ve hit the bottom, continue through the cave system. Stop once you arrive at an underground lake.
7. To the left of the water is a skeleton with the Rebreather on its back. Click the E key to equip it.

How to Get the Climbing Axe
The Climbing Axe is a useful weapon if you want the Modern Axe or Machete. This tool grants flexibility, as it allows the player to scale walls. This tool comes in handy throughout the game. For this reason, this section will show you how to get it.
How to Find the Climbing Axe
The Climbing Axe can be found in Cave 9, the entrance can be found next to a tent just north-west of the big hole, located in the centre of the map.
1. Once you’ve found the entrance of Cave 9, enter it.
2. At the bottom, you’ll find another ledge with a rope. Again, go down it.
3. At the bottom, you will find ANOTHER rope. For a third time, go down it.
4. At the bottom is a small pond, filled with water. Submerged underneath the water (to the right), there’ll be a hole the player can swim through. Go through this.
Note: You will not need the Rebreather for this.
5. When you’ve finished swimming through, you’ll find a rope. Go down it.
6. At the bottom, you’ll find baby mutants. Once they are dead, you’ll want to continue through the cave system.
7. You’ll eventually encounter a walking cave entrance (the slit in the rocks). Go through it, then turn left.
8. As you continue, you’ll find a camping site. Here, you can sleep. Next, you’ll find another walking cave entrance to the left of the tent.
9. Once you’re on the other side, continue straight until you find a ledge with a rope. Go down it.
10. At the bottom you’ll want to go straight. Be cautious, there’ll be cannibals and baby mutants up ahead.
11. Once all the enemies have damage and killed, you’ll stumble across a large cavern with ledges that players are able to walk on—be careful. Make your way across the left wall.
12. Once you’ve reached a wall, take a left. Make sure to kill the cannibal babies that’ll be there. The best way to damage them is with a spear.
13. The Climbing Axe is lodged in the wall.

How to Get the Chainsaw
The Chainsaw is a melee weapon that’s highly effective at chopping trees. Compared to axes, the Chainsaw is able to mow down dozens more trees. The beauty of the Chainsaw is that it requires no stamina. However, it does need fuel, which can be found around the map.
Note: You will need the Climbing Axe to get the Chainsaw
How to Find the Chainsaw
The Chainsaw is found in Cave 3, just east of the sinkhole (located in the centre of the map).
1. Once you’ve found the entrance to Cave 3, enter it.
2. Continue straight through the cave.
3. Stop progressing once you’ve arrived at a large room.
4. Here, turn right, then continue straight.
5. You’ll eventually arrive at a ledge. Jump down it, then continue straight.
6. You’ll arrive at an intersection, take a left. Then continue straight.
7. When you arrive at a ledge with a rope, go down it.
8. Upon reaching the bottom, continue straight until you find a room with corpses.
9. The Chainsaw is located on a bench within the room.

How to Get the Rusty Axe
The Rusty Axe deals less damage and has a slower swing speed than the Modern Axe. But, it’s got higher knockdown power and a higher block level. For reference, out of all the weapons plane axe is the worst; Modern Axe is best for chopping trees; and the Rusty Axe is best in terms of attack and defense. Although it’s generally considered worse than the Katana, it’s still important to have handy.
Where to Find the Rusty Axe
Note: You will need the Rebreather to get the Rusty Axe.
1. Go to Geese Lake (the location is displayed in the image above)
2. The cave’s entrance is submerged. To enter, you’ll have to swim to the bottom of the lake.
3. Once you have entered the cave, continue through it.
4. You’ll eventually arrive at a ledge with a rope attached. Go down it.
5. At the bottom, you’ll discover another lake. Submerged in the water is a passage. Dive into the lake and swim through it.
6. At the end, you’ll discover a large room. To the right will be a few tents.
7. The Rusty Axe is found to the right of the tents, resting against a rock.

How to Get the Modern Bow
The Modern Bow is acknowledged as the most powerful weapon. Unfortunately, it’s much harder to find than other weapons. We’d suggest you gear up before attempting to get the Modern Bow. You’ll encounter many cannibals while locating it.
Note: You’ll need the Rebreather and the Climbing Axe in order to get the Modern Bow.
How to Find the Modern Bow
To get the Modern Bow we will be entering Cave 7, this cave is located just north of the massive hole in the middle of the map.
1. Enter Cave 7 through the walking entrance.
2. At the bottom, continue straight.
3. You’ll arrive at a rope. Go down it. Keep in mind that there are various mutants at the bottom.
4. When you reach the bottom, you’ll discover the aforementioned mutants, you’ll have to fight these guys to progress. Once they’ve been dealt with, there’ll be a barricade. Destroy it.
5. One the other side will be a large room with a ledge on the left side, continue forward.
6. Go down the first rope you encounter, it should be located to your right.
7. Upon reaching the bottom, there should be ANOTHER rope. Go down it.
8. At the bottom, there’s another rope. Go down it.
9. At the bottom, there’ll be a wall that (with the Climbing Axe) can be scaled. On the other side, go down the rope.
10. When you’ve reached the bottom, there should be another wall that can be scaled with the Climbing Axe. Afterwards, go down the rope on the other side.
11. Once you’ve reached the bottom, kill the cannibals. Once they’re dead, continue through the cave.
12. Eventually you will discover a walking entrance. Go through it.
13. Once you have passed through, you’ll find a large cavern with a ledge in the left portion of the room. Continue down this path.
14. Eventually you’ll arrive at a rope. Go down it.
15. Once you have reached the bottom, take the left path.
16. After a while, you will arrive at two cannibals, kill these and continue.
17. Break down the barricades that you’ll encounter. Then continue.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The next room contains many enemies, so follow these instructions to avoid having to kill them. Once you enter the room, hug the right wall and sprint. Eventually, you will arrive at a large water hole, put your rebreather on, and enter it, then continue straight forward.
18. When you have reached the other side, there’ll be a camp.
19. The Modern Bow is on a cardboard box, along with many arrows.

The Machete is a knife-like tool, which specializes in cutting down shrubs and small trees. As it has the fastest swing time, it allows the player to efficiently farm sticks. For this reason, this section will describe how to navigate through Cave 7, so you can get the Machete.
Note: You will need to be well prepared.
Note: You’ll need dynamite.
How to Find the Machete
Once you have found the Cave 7, follow these steps to find the Machete:
1. Enter Cave 7 through the walking entrance.
2. At the bottom, continue straight.
3. You’ll arrive at a rope. Go down it. Keep in mind that there are various mutants at the bottom.
4. When you reach the bottom, you’ll discover the aforementioned mutants, you’ll have to fight these guys to progress. Once they’ve been dealt with, there’ll be a barricade. Destroy it.
5. On the other side will be a large room with a ledge on the left side, continue forward.

13. Once you have passed through, you’ll find a large cavern with a ledge in the left portion of the room. Continue down this path.
14. Eventually you’ll arrive at a rope. Go down it.
15. Once you have reached the bottom, take the left path.
16. After a while, you will arrive at two cannibals, kill these and continue.
17. You arrive at some barricades. Break them and continue to hug the left wall then take a left.
18. Continue on until you arrive at some more fences, break them down. On the other side of the fence, you will find two cannibals. Keep going until you arrive at a body of water. Swim through the water.
Note that you’ll only need to swim on the surface.
19. Once you exit the water, you’ll discover a stack of boulders. Using dynamite, you must explode these. On the other side, there’ll be two Armsies you’re going to have to fight (so get ready).
20. Once the Armsies have been killed, you should notice a big metal door with a pressure plate in front of it. Open the door by placing rocks on the pressure plate. Rocks can be found scattered all over the floor within the room.
21. Continue until you arrive at three more cannibals. Once you’ve killed the cannibals, you’ll want to place more rocks on top of the pressure plate to open the next door.
22. Once the door is open, continue forward and pass across the narrow bridge you’ll encounter.
23. Eventually, you should arrive at a gap, pass this gap. Continue forward until you arrive at another door, place some more rocks on top of the pressure plate top open it.
24. You will now be at the bottom of the Sinkhole. Once you enter the sinkhole, take a left and go toward the crashed helicopter.
25. The Machete can be found in the driving seat of a crashed helicopter.

The Crossbow is a ranged weapon that requires bolts to use.
Note: You will need the Rebreather.
How to Find the Crossbow
The Crossbow can be found just west of the peninsula, the cave entrance is submerged. This section will explain how to get the Crossbow.
1. Find the small island, located in the bottom left (south-west) of the map.
2. Find the scaffold of the ship, located on the island.
3. Get on the ship, and swim towards the area pointed out in the image below.
4. You will discover the other portion of the sunken ship, once you have found it, find the door.
5. Locate the crack in the floorboards and click “E” to enter
6. Continue through the water, until you reach a trail, then keeping going straight.
7. You will eventually reach a room, at the end of the room is the crossbow.
