Rope is a valuable resource in The Forest, and it’s used to craft a lot of items — from the raft to a Stone Axe and even Fish Traps and an Alpine Tree House. In fact, Rope is required for most of the items you need to craft in order to survive in this harsh world. Luckily, we’ve done the hard work, so you don’t need to; this is how to make Rope in The Forest.

How to Find Rope in the Map

With so many schematics requiring one or more pieces of Rope, it’s important to know how to craft this valuable item. But here’s a fun fact, you can also find it in the world and best of all, it’s easy to make. Rope can be found in cannibal villages, on small boats, the beach, caves and on the yacht.

If you approach a cannibal camp be careful, cannibals are swift, and you don’t always see them until it’s too late. These camps/villages often have good supplies in them and finding Rope saves time and resources. The Rope is usually in the form of a hangman’s noose dangling from the ceiling of a tent.

How to Craft Rope

During the first few minutes of starting the game, you’ll collect food and drink and see locked suitcases which you can hit to open — if you didn’t know. Inside you could find Cloth, booze, money, and lots of other useful items. You’ll have a few starting missions, mainly to build a shelter and fire, but you don’t need to do these if you don’t want to. Having a shelter allows you to skip the night and when you’re starting out it’s worth doing until you feel prepared.

To craft Rope you need Cloth — cloth can be found in suitcases and in cannibal camps, once you have 7 pieces open your backpack. Click on 7 pieces of Cloth and you’ll notice the cog filling and an audio cue will alert you that something can be crafted with these items. Click the cogwheel and 1 rope will be crafted.

How Much Rope Can You Hold in Your Inventory in The Forest?

You’re able to hold 4 Ropes in your inventory, there’s no weight limit in The Forest, you’ll only ever carry up to the max limit of each item so there’s no need to drop anything you collect.
