How to Get Cave Only World in Minecraft [ver. 1.8 – 1.16 – 1.19]

Cave worlds in Minecraft are a specific type of world where players spend their entire game in underground cave systems. Both the surface and the bottom of the world are covered by Bedrock; therefore, players can not escape or leave. This completely changes the game’s dynamics, as players no longer have access to many tools or materials that they would otherwise easily be able to get. This game mode is very similar to SkyBlock, in that many, usually common materials, are tough to obtain.

Players looking for a hardcore experience, much more difficult than a regular Minecraft game, often ask how to make a cave world in Minecraft Java or Bedrock. In this NeuralGamer Minecraft guide, we will explain how to do this.

Minecraft Cave World Download Tutorial For Minecraft Java Edition

Java Players’ method to generate a cave world depends on their Minecraft version. Please select what version you’re playing on:

Minecraft Java 1.16.5 or later

Players who are looking to make a cave world and a Minecraft game that runs on version 1.16.5 or after, follow these steps:

  1. Open up your Minecraft game so that it is on the main menu.
  2. Click on the Singleplayer button.
  3. Click on ‘create new world’.
  4. Cycle through the options until you find the cave only world options.
  5. Create the game and wait for it to generate.

Minecraft Java 1.8 / 1.8.9 / 1.9

Creating a cave-only world in one of the three versions is more difficult but not too challenging. You must go to version 1.16.5 first and generate a cave world there. After that, close the game and reopen it in your desired version.

Cave World Mods for Java Edition

Cave Only World Minecraft 1.16.5 +

Players who don’t want the vanilla experience may opt to download various cave world mods of curseforge.net. Here, they can find many different mods that add the features they are looking for and various other add-ons; new ores, new armor, new pickaxes, to name a few. If you want to do this, there is no shortage of online tutorials explaining that it downloaded mods in Minecraft.

If CurseForge is not your cup of tea, Twitch is another viable option. Here, users can use the Twitch launcher to download various mods for Minecraft Java Edition; the best part? This is the most straightforward process I found. Plus, the Twitch library of mods is extensive. If you’re interested in learning how to do it, we link a video at the bottom of the article.

Cave World Mods/Add-ons for Bedrock Edition

Unlike Minecraft Java Edition, Minecraft Bedrock Edition has a whole new method for downloading mods; technically, they’re called “add-ons”. To download an add-on that features a cave-only world, you must download it from mcpedl.com. If you’re interested in installing Minecraft Bedrock mods, we provide a very straight-to-the-point guide at the bottom of this page.

Cave World Mods/Add-ons for Minecraft Pocket Edition (MCPE)

Considering Minecraft Pocket Edition allows players to modify the game with various add-ons, various modders have created cave-only worlds for MCPE. Gamers can download these worlds from multiple websites; however, we highly suggest mcpedl.com. Here, many players have shared their maps/worlds that users can download for free.

Are the Any Live Cave Minecraft Servers

We looked all around PlanetMinecraft, a website that displays a list of all available Minecraft servers. Currently, no cave-only servers are available; however, if you want to make your own private cave-only world, you can do this by clicking the link above.

Do Villages Spawn in Cave Worlds?

Whether villagers spawn in cave worlds depends on whether you’re playing vanilla Minecraft or modded/add-on Minecraft. In Vanilla Minecraft, Players who choose the cave only world option can find villages underground. However, villages may not always spawn underground with modded Minecraft, and players must check with a mod’s description and Wiki guide.
