TLDR: This guide explains how to get ice in Hypixel Skyblock. To acquire ice, you need to have Spruce Wood Collection IV (4) and unlock the Taiga Biome Stick Recipe. You can then build an area as large as you would like to farm some ice and use Silk Touch to mine it. You can craft an enchanting table and place a book in the enchanting table or the pickaxe you would like to enchant, or get String V (5) which rewards you with a Silk Touch Enchanted Book Recipe.
Otherwise, follow these steps to obtain Ice in Hypixel Skyblock:
Like all things on Skyblock, ice is a grind to get — but with our help, it shouldn’t feel like such a daunting task. There are a lot of collections to get through and each one has varying levels to get through in order to unlock something else, eg: sand requires level 5 cactus. The collection for today’s focus is spruce.
To acquire ice you need to have Spruce Wood Collection IV (4) then you’ll unlock the Taiga Biome Stick Recipe. You want ice, not a biome, we hear you say. Well, this biome is the key to unlocking the ice.

Once you have collected 1,000 spruce/ reached Spruce Wood IV you will unlock the Taiga Biome Stick Recipe. Head back through the portal to your home and craft the stick.
You have two options with the Taiga Biome Stick, you can click an area which will make a small radius of your island a Taiga biome. Or talk to Jerry, who will then transform your island into a Taiga. And yes, you can change it back if you would like.
Build an area as large as you would like to farm some ice. For this example, I’ll say 5×5. Place water along the walls to create source blocks. Then watch as the ice forms. Don’t try to gather the ice yet. For that, you’ll need Silk Touch.

Silk Touch is an enchantment for a pickaxe that allows you to mine blocks without changing their state. Eg: mining stone with a normal pick turns it into cobblestone, iron will be iron ore, a vein of diamonds will break free from the rocks exposing them. If you use silk touch on stone it will stay stone. Iron will remain in the block you mine it from and so will gold and diamonds.
This also means that ice won’t break/dissapear when you try to mine it. Mining a block of ice or even glass with a normal pickaxe breaks the block. Silk Touch is a very useful enchantment to have.
Craft an enchanting table and place a book in the enchanting table or the pickaxe you would like to enchant. Some available enchants will show and usually it isn’t the one you’re after. It does take time to unlock the right enchant doing it this way. The other option is to get String V (5) which rewards you with a Silk Touch Enchanted Book Recipe.
